Chief Greg Felty -101- has spent his entire life in the fire station. His father is a retired chief of department and you could always find Greg under your feet and in your hair at the station nearly every day. In 1982, when he turned 18, he continued the legacy of another Felty on the hose line. Greg has ascended the ladder of leadership serving as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and becoming Chief of Department in 2000 upon the retirement of Chief David Smith. |

Deputy Chief Eddie Rucker -102- started with the Grayson Fire Department in March of 1984. He was certified as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician in 1986. In January of 1988 he was promoted to Lieutenant then in December was again promoted to Captain. Chief Rucker received his Level II Instructors certification in 1995 and was promoted to Deputy Chief in 1997. Chief Rucker has over 5000 hours of classroom and practical training including Leadership and the Incident Command System (ICS) from the U.S. Fire Administration National Fire Academy as well as Operational Level for Hazardous Materials (Haz-Mat). He recently has become IFSAC Firefighter I and II Certified. Eddie works for the Carter County Emergency Medical Service as an Emergency Medical Technician. Chief Rucker enjoys fishing and spending time with his wife and children. |

Assistant Chief Duane Suttles -103- began his career with the Grayson Fire Department December 17, 1977 as a junior firefighter, the equivalency of today's Cadet FF program. He was elevated to Trainee status in 1980, the equivalency of today's Recruit FF status. In 1981, as a Trainee, he achieved his Kentucky Fire Fighter Certification. Since becoming a regular Fire Fighter at the age of 18, Chief Suttles has progressed through the ranks beginning with Captain in 1984, Assistant Chief in 1990, Deputy Chief in 1993 and assuming the position of Fire Chief upon the retirement of Chief Kendall Steele in 1996. Chief Suttles resigned as Chief in 1997, stepping back to fire fighter to focus more his career as a State Training Coordinator for State Fire Rescue Training, assigned to the Region 9 Office in Morehead. On his last day as Chief, he commanded a devastating Main Street fire that started in the Dollar General Store (formerly Baker's Department Store) and spread to 2 adjoining businesses before being stopped by Grayson's fire fighters, saving several businesses from destruction. Since 1997, he rose once again through the ranks serving as Sergeant, Battalion Chief of Suppression and to his current position of Assistant Fire Chief in charge of training. Chief Suttles has served this community through celebrations and tragedies. He commanded several devastating fires over the years including the Grayson Milling Company fire, Prichard Elementary School fire, the Bagby Lumber Co fire, the Carter County Courthouse arson fire and was one of the first responders on the scene when Grayson Police Officer Jack Claywell was Killed in the Line of Duty in 1983. Chief Suttles is employed by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System ( KCTCS ) as a Regional Fire Training Coordinator and Manager of Kentucky's ( IFSAC ) Accredited Fire Fighter Certification Program and currently serves as a city councilman for the City of Grayson |

Captain Kendall Steele -107- joined the Grayson Fire Department in 1972 and moved his way up in rank all the way to the position of Fire Chief in 1995-96. Kendall has over 8000 hours of Fire Training, and has been an EMT for 35 years. Kendall was active in the military from 1966 - 1970 as a Dog Handler, he also spent 16 years in the Air National Guard as Air Crash/ Rescue. He retired from the Military as Deputy Chief at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Ohio. Kendall recently retired from A.K Steel after 40+ years. He currently the Station Captain of the department, as well as being an active member of the Carter County Tactical Search, Rescue and Recover Team. Kendall was also a member of the Hitchens Fire Department for 12 years. He has a daughter, Allison Steele, who just recently gave birth to his first granddaughter, Elise. Kendall enjoys spending time with his family and spends the rest of his spare time on the golf course. |

Lieutenant Michael Harper -157- has been a member of the Grayson Fire Department since March 2006. Prior to serving in Grayson, Michael was a member of the Caldwell Fire Department in Caldwell Ohio. Since moving to Kentucky, he has obtained the 400 hour certification level for Kentucky Firefighters. He also has several IFSAC certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Haz-Mat Awareness, Haz-Mat Operations, and Fire Instructor Level I. In 2006 he received the Rookie of the Year Award, and then was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 2007 by the members of the Grayson FD. He is now a member of the Grayson Fire Department Rescue & Recovery Dive Team, serving the team as a diver. He currently holds the Open Water Diver, and Advanced Open Water Diver certification cards from PADI. Michael has one son, Alexander. |

Battalion Chief Kyle Morgan -104- has been on the Fire Department for several years. Kyle has the Kentucky 400 hour certification, as well as numerous IFSAC certifications: Fire Instructor I, Firefighter I and II, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, just to name a few. Kyle also works as a part time instructor for State Fire Rescue Training out of Ashland, KY. He is currently in his 4rd year apprenticeship program for the Boilermaker Union Local 105 out of Piketon, Ohio. Kyle is married to Tara, and has two boys, Brody and Payton. In his spare time, Kyle enjoys ATV riding, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. |

Sergeant Ryan Fraley -168– has been in the fire service since October of 2000. He has spent his complete fire service career at Grayson. He currently is Kentucky 150 hour certified Firefighter, as well as being an EMT-B. Ryan is employed with Carter County EMS, working mostly out of the Olive Hill base. He is continuing his education in the medical field by working toward becoming a paramedic. In 2006 Ryan was awarded Firefighter of the Year by the membership of the Grayson Fire Department. He also received Firefighter of the Year from the Chamber of Commerce in the same year. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys ATV riding, mechanic work, fishing, hunting, and just about anything that has to do with being outdoors. |

Lieutenant Matt Jones -170- has been with the fire service since 1998 at the age of 13, Matt joined the Grayson FD in 2003. He graduated from Morehead State University in 2008 and is now working for CSX as a conductor. He is a Haz-Mat Tech/Haz-Mat IC trained. Matt is an Eagle Scout and has also received the Firefighter of the Year award two times (2004 and 2007) from the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce, also was voted Bonehead of the Year for 2008 by the members of GFD. In his spare time he enjoys riding ATV's, hiking, camping, and Rock Band among other things. |

Captain Josh Fraley -105- has been with the department since 2000. He has many accomplishments such as earning his 400 hour level certification, EMT-P (Fire Medic) and Rookie of the year in 2001. and works as a Firefighter/Medic with the Montgomery Fire Department. |

Sergeant Travis McHenry -154– has been his Fire Service at Grayson in September of 2005. He has received the certification of Kentucky 150 hour Firefighter Certification, as well as being First Aid and CPR Pro certified. Travis received the award of Rookie of the Year in 2008 by the Grayson Fire Department, and also received Firefighter of the Year in 2008 by the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce. He is currently in his 2nd year apprenticeship program for the Boilermaker Union Local 105 out of Piketon, Ohio. Travis has been married to Christy for 7 years now. Sergeant Justin Stone -172– also started his Fire Service here in Grayson in March of 2008 and is only a few hours short of his 150 hour certification. He received the award of Rookie of the Year for 2008 by the Grayson Fire Department members. Justin is currently employed with the Ironworker Union Local 769. He is married and has 3 children: Nikki - 10, James - 8, and Allie - 3. In his spare time, Justin enjoys fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
